Humane Colorado and Hill’s Pet Nutrition Offer Waived Adoption Fees for Dogs like Penn

Humane Colorado is teaming up with Hill’s Pet Nutrition for the “Home Sweet Homecoming” adoption campaign, Sept. 30 through Oct. 4.

Denver, Col., September 30, 2026 – Inspired by the excitement of school homecoming, Humane Colorado is teaming up with Hill’s Pet Nutrition (Hill’s) for the “Home Sweet Homecoming” adoption campaign from September 30th through October 4, 2026, at their three shelter locations in Denver, Castle Rock, and San Luis Valley. The campaign celebrates the new beginnings of welcoming a pet like Penn, an American Bulldog Mix, into a loving home.

Since 2002, Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love program has helped more than 16 million cats and dogs find new homes and has provided more than $300 million in pet nutrition to feed pets across its partner shelters, including the dogs and cats at Humane Colorado. As a proud partner of the program, Humane Colorado is excited to join shelters nationwide in celebrating Hill’s “Home Sweet Homecoming” and bring the excitement to Denver, Castle Rock, and San Luis Valley to help deserving shelter pets find homes this fall.

During the campaign, Hill’s will contribute up to $100,000 to offset adoption fees at select Food, Shelter & Love partner locations in the United States, including Humane Colorado. Adoption fees will be waived for eligible large dogs, one year or older, weighing 60 pounds or more. Adopters will also receive a New Pet Parent Kit from Hill’s, which includes a starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet, coupons, and post-adoption tips.

“Every dog deserves a place to belong, and for many of the larger dogs in our care, that wait can be longer than it should be. We’re grateful to partner with Hill’s to make adoption more accessible and to shine a spotlight on these amazing animals. Home Sweet Homecoming is about creating new beginnings, and we hope many families will find their newest best friend during this special event,” said Mary Sarah Fairweather, Vice President of Animal Welfare at Humane Colorado.
