Humane Colorado Receives $290,000 Grant from The Rachael Ray Foundation

Generous contribution will support programs to end pet homelessness and animal suffering.

Denver, CO – May 27, 2025 – Humane Colorado, formerly the Dumb Friends League, is thrilled to announce a generous grant award of $290,000 from The Rachael Ray Foundation. This significant, unrestricted contribution will provide hope and support for countless pets and their people, particularly those most in need in our community.

Thanks to the longtime support of The Rachael Ray Foundation, Humane Colorado is able to provide a broad range of critical services that help keep pets healthy and with their families. This grant allows us to continue delivering compassionate, life-saving care to nearly 50,000 animals every year – both in our centers and in the homes of the people we serve. Further, The Rachael Ray Foundation’s partnership makes it possible for us to meet the urgent and growing needs of our communities, while ensuring pets can stay with the people who love them.

“We are incredibly thankful to The Rachael Ray Foundation for their unwavering support and investment in the well-being of pets,” said our President and CEO, Dr. Apryle Steele. “This generous contribution will help Humane Colorado provide critical services to animals in need, and ensures pet owners have access to resources that keep their families healthy and together.”

Humane Colorado encourages others to join the effort to support animals and people in need through donations, volunteering and fostering, and spreading the word about the vital services the organization provides. The impact of The Rachael Ray Foundation’s contribution will be felt by countless pets and pet owners throughout Colorado, and Humane Colorado is honored to partner with such a dedicated organization.
