From our start as the Denver Dumb Friends League in 1910 to Humane Colorado today, we’re excited to celebrate our 116th anniversary. Our mission was simple 116 years ago – help homeless animals in Denver find homes. Since then, we’ve grown into one of the community’s most trusted resources for pets and the people who love them, expanding our mission to work with our compassionate community to end pet homelessness and animal suffering.

More than an animal shelter

We are grateful for the endless support and compassion from our community. Your steadfast dedication to our mission allows us to expand our impact by offering affordable veterinary care through our Veterinary Hospital at CSU Spur and increasing our capacity for care through strategic growth across Colorado.

Now, with pet adoption centers in Denver, Castle Rock, and Alamosa as well as our Harmony Equine Center in Franktown, we’re helping more animals, pets, and people than ever before!

Another year committed to Colorado

On average, we serve over 46,000 animals every year through sheltering, veterinary care, support services such as Pet Assist, and programs that strengthen the human-animal bond.
