Important information about your pet’s Rabies vaccination.

If you received a letter or email directing you to this page, our records indicate your pet may have received a rabies vaccine from an impacted manufacturing lot.

We understand this news may be concerning. Please know that Humane Colorado and Elanco Animal Health are working together to help ensure affected pets remain protected against rabies.

What happened?

Elanco Animal Health, the manufacturer of the rabies vaccines your pet received, has notified veterinary providers that several rabies vaccine lot numbers met manufacturing standards when initially released but were later found to be below potency requirements during routine quality assurance re-testing.

This means the vaccine administered to your pet may not provide full protection against rabies for the entire 12-month vaccination period.

There are no reported safety concerns associated with these vaccines. The concern is related only to the vaccine’s ability to provide protection for the full duration of immunity.

What lot numbers were affected?

Does my pet need another rabies vaccine?

If your pet has already received another rabies vaccine since receiving the impacted vaccine, no further action is needed.

If your pet previously received a vaccine from one of the recalled lots listed above and has not yet received another rabies vaccine, Elanco recommends revaccination in accordance with state and local regulations. The lot number is located on your pet’s rabies vaccination certificate. If your pet received vaccines through one of our community services programs, the certificate is available on your pet patient portal.

We encourage you to speak with your veterinarian if you have questions about your pet’s vaccination status.
