This brilliant girl is athletic, thoughtful, and ready to be taken in any direction. Artemis spent the spring of 2026 at CSU for their ASPCA Right Horse Program where she got a lot of great foundational work and made a ton of progress! Here’s what the students at CSU had to say about Artemis: This adorable Arabian mare is Artemis! Artemis came to the CSU equine center at the beginning of January 2026. Since then, she has made enormous improvements. She can confidently be caught and haltered, groomed on both sides, lunged in both directions, and fly sprayed. She has not yet been started under saddle but has had a saddle pad on her back with no issue. She is extremely intelligent and can be desensitized quickly to most things. Artemis does have some issues with having her feet held. However, she is improving very quickly. As of now we can hold both of her front feet for a few seconds. Her back feet are still a work in progress. You can touch all the way down her right hind leg, and halfway down her left. She is very good at letting you know if she is uncomfortable with you holding her feet without being explosive or aggressive about it. If you are calm and confident in your horsemanship, Artemis may be the one for you! She is high energy and very attentive to her surroundings. She can be a little wary of new spaces, so she needs someone who can lead her confidently and calm her down if she gets nervous. She can be a little nervous around new people so the best way to win her over is to give her plenty of treats and scratch her between the ears (it’s her favorite spot). As for her future under saddle, Artemis is high energy so she would be better suited for an intermediate to advanced rider. While she could be multidisciplinary, her smaller conformation would make her more suitable for the English discipline. Overall, this mare is such a joy to work with. She has such a kind heart and a willingness to learn. While she does require some more training, she does progress rather quickly in her trainings. She warms right up to anyone that’s kind to her and is always looking for love and attention. Do not pass up this mare, she has endless potential!
