Protecting vulnerable animals from neglect and mistreatment

Animal Protection

Humane Colorado’s Animal Protection program works across local communities to safeguard Colorado animals through outreach, education, and advocacy.

If you see or suspect an animal is being harmed, please make a report to your local animal protection agency or submit a report to Humane Colorado.

We strive to eliminate the mistreatment of animals throughout Colorado by collaborating with personnel and enforcement agencies on animal cruelty and neglect cases. Most reports are resolved through education, assistance, and enforcement.

When law enforcement, animal welfare organizations, government agencies, and the community work together, the fight against animal cruelty and neglect becomes more efficient and effective.

Reporting Animal Abuse

Animal abuse doesn’t happen in a silo. Studies indicate that people who intentionally harm animals may be more likely to commit violent crimes towards people. Reporting animal abuse helps prevent future violence and improve the quality of life for everyone in the community.

Learn more about the link between animal abuse and violence towards people at the National Link Coalition.

We will continue to raise awareness about animal welfare issues throughout the state, advocate for animal-friendly legislation state-wide, and provide resources for those interested in preventing animal cruelty and neglect in Colorado and nationwide.

If you see or suspect an animal is being harmed, please make a report to your local animal protection agency.
