Whether your pet is receiving a prophylactic cleaning or is in need of advanced dentistry with surgical extractions, our experienced veterinarians provide comprehensive care focused on restoring comfort and long-term oral health.
Dental care is critical to an animal’s overall health. When oral infection and disease are not addressed, they can spread to other organs in the body. Pets are good at masking the severity of oral pain due to gingivitis, fractured teeth, or infected tooth roots, but when left untreated, it can lead to decreased appetite, behavior changes, and stress to the immune system. In advanced gum disease, bacteria from the mouth can get into the bloodstream and potentially harm organs like the heart, liver, and kidneys.
Dental services are among the highest expenses for pet owners. We encourage early intervention to avoid the need for extractions and advanced oral surgery, as these procedures increase costs.
Thanks to our generous donors, we can keep fees for all dental procedures low without compromising the quality of care your pet receives. Dental services range from $550 to $1,200, depending on the extent and severity of dental disease, and whether extractions or oral surgery are required.

Every dental procedure includes a Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment (COHAT) performed under general anesthesia. This allows us to complete a detailed oral examination and obtain full-mouth radiographs (dental X-rays), which are essential for evaluating disease below the gumline, where the majority of dental problems are hidden.
Most procedures are performed in our on-view surgical suites located on the Colorado State University Spur campus in Denver, where visitors and students can observe live surgeries.

Dental Care Success Story
When a community rallies behind animals, great things happen!
Ramen, an affectionate 7-year-old stray cat, was suffering from severe dental disease and a painful skin infection. With a community of caregivers, including his future adopters, refusing to give up hope for an affordable treatment plan for their beloved neighborhood cat, he was brought to our Veterinary Hospital at CSU Spur for care.
“I cried with relief at that first appointment at Humane Colorado,” remembers Mieke. “It was the first time I felt that Ramen – and us as his family – were being truly seen and cared for.”
