Denver, Col. [Nov 17.2025] – Humane Colorado is honored to announce a generous $69,200 grant from the Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation to support the organization’s Pet Assist program. Pet Assist provides critical support to people and pets in crisis by offering veterinary care and temporary foster placement when owners face domestic violence, hospitalization, housing insecurity, or other emergencies that make it difficult to care for their animals. The program, led by Anna Leon, helps ensure that pets and people stay together, even through life’s toughest challenges. Through this partnership, Humane Colorado will continue expanding access to temporary foster homes, reducing pet relinquishments, and strengthening its commitment to keeping pets in their homes. “Pet Assist is a crucial element in our mission to end pet homelessness and animal suffering, ” said Leon. “Thanks to the generous support and community-focused vision of the Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation, we are able to offer more resources to our community and keep more families together, even when they are facing hardship.” About Humane Colorado Humane Colorado, formerly the Dumb Friends League, is a 115-year-old, independent nonprofit working to end homelessness and animal suffering across Colorado.
