Cooper is a shelter favorite currently available for adoption at our Buddy Center in Castle Rock. Cooper came to Humane Colorado out of an abundance of love and care. After needing to make significant lifestyle changes for health reasons, his human knew they could no longer give him a thriving home, so they relinquished him into our care in hopes his silver and gold years would be met with even more love, adventures, and compassion. While we don’t know his full history before coming to us, we learned that Cooper is the perfect dog for any Coloradan. This Beagle mix loves sniffing the trails, camping, and course peanut butter! Cooper has been in our care since early March, and he quickly became the apple of everyone’s eye. A man on a mission, he knows his routine and loves the play and affection he receives from our dog walking volunteers. Here’s what one of our volunteers had to say about Cooper! “Overall, {Cooper} is a very sweet and smart dog! He LOVES pets – sometimes he wants to go to the play yard just to snuggle – other times, he’s ready to play fetch! He’s easy to leash and walk, and he likes to sniff A LOT.” Cooper is 6, and with his age comes plenty of wisdom – he loves to learn and already knows commands for sit, stay, heel, come, and more! We believe he would do best in an active home. Beagles enjoy mental stimulation, so ongoing training, outdoor enrichment, and other activities keep them happy and healthy. Cooper can be nervous around other dogs, so a solo dog home where he can receive your undivided affection may be best. If you’ve got a spot on your bed in need of warming, Cooper is your guy.
