Some dogs make an impact on everyone at Humane Colorado. Bella is one of them. Bella was in our care for some time before her adoption day. As a worker breed, she has the energy and intelligence to outrun most humans! In her time with us, Bella passed our K9 Courage program, growing from a place of fear to an adoption candidate, but was passed over by more than one family. Until Denise. As she tells it: Bella, a beautiful four-year-old Australian Cattle Dog, joined my family on January 12, 2025, after I adopted her from Humane Colorado. Despite being relinquished twice and having a “long rap sheet,” Bella’s intelligence and spirit shone through when we met. She eagerly performed commands and craved attention. Though my initial plan was to adopt a senior dog, Bella’s story and personality touched my heart. With 35 years of experience adopting dogs, including high-energy and reactive ones, I felt confident in my ability to provide a loving home. I’m delighted with my decision, and I believe Bella is too. Now settled, she’s learning new commands like “left,” “right,” “look,” and “stop,” and showing potential for scent work. She’s gradually getting acquainted with neighborhood dogs and enjoys car rides to visit my daughter or explore new trails. I hope Bella feels secure in her forever home. I am a huge advocate for adopting shelter animals of any kind. Thank you to everyone at Humane Colorado. Thank you, Denise, for opening your home to Bella!
