Letters from Friends: A Stellar Life for Olive

Every year, we see thousands of animals go to new homes and are always thrilled to receive updates with everything they are up to with their new families! Stellar (now Olive) was adopted in November and has truly settled into her new home.

Here’s what her adopter had to say.

I adopted my dog from the Leslie A. Malone Center on November 17th, 2024 and I wanted to share the impact it has had on both my life and hers!

Towards the end of 2024 I was spending a lot of time browsing adoptable dogs on the DFL website and I kept convincing myself that the time wasn’t right. I am convinced it was a push from across the rainbow bridge from my last cherished dog (who coincidentally was also adopted from the Leslie A. Malone Center nearly 16 years ago) to take another look, and right there was “Stellar” and I knew from the minute I saw her picture that she was meant to change my life.

So that November morning, I made sure to be there as soon as the doors were opened, knowing exactly who I was going to visit. During my time visiting with her there was an instant bond and trust between us!

Fast forward 2 months, this sweet thing now goes by Olive! She is doing so amazing and has grown in her confidence! She is playful, sweet, and snuggly! Her favorite thing is making friends with other dogs and she’s really coming around to meeting new people!

We completed the DNA testing and found that she is primarily Catahoula/Mastiff bull-type with herding breed in a close second and a sprinkle of staffy.

Just one look at this sleeping beauty and you know Olive is living her best life.
