The Humane Colorado San Luis Valley Animal Center opened on a perfect Spring morning in March 2021. The San Luis Valley is a mission critical area with an abundance of stray animals, and pet owners looking for accessible veterinary care. Our mission for Alamosa is to continue to provide pet adoption services, while also increasing our community resources to help keep pets with their people. In the two years since launching our community clinic program at the San Luis Valley Animal Center, we have seen incredible success within the community. Over 700 dogs have been seen through our clinics and in the past year alone, 226 dogs have been spayed or neutered! By providing these affordable vet services in addition to our comprehensive shelter services to in-need communities, we support responsible pet ownership for generations to come. We are thankful for the support of the Animal Assistance Foundation. Their generous gift of $40,000 goes directly towards supporting the animals in our care and ensuring the owned pets throughout the San Luis Valley remain healthy and happy.
