Volunteer

And the Dedicated Service Award goes to…

This year, we are honored to award Nancy W. our Dedicated Service Award for her incredible contributions to Humane Colorado.

If you were a wee kitten waking up in an unfamiliar place, a bit foggy-headed, and hurting a little as you recover from surgery, how lucky would you be to be scooped up by Nancy.

Nancy joined our volunteer program more than 13 years ago, and has remained a staple, helping the Shelter Veterinary Services and Community Veterinary Services teams with over 3,200 hours of service.

Nancy is a powerhouse volunteer, crawling around the floor of Surgery Recovery to provide comfort and care to animals awakening from surgery.

On the weekends, she is often found volunteering at one of our vaccine clinics, held rain or shine, around the Denver Metro Area. If that isn’t enough, Nancy is also a dedicated foster parent, opening her home to countless litters of kittens and medically fragile cats.

Nancy’s volunteer work isn’t just accumulated in hours. Her selflessness and care for every person and animal she encounters makes her a joy to be around, encouraging everyone to bring their full selves to their work.

Every year, we acknowledge a volunteer with over 10 years of service to our programs, animals, and shelters with the Dedicated Service Award.

As a true ambassador for Humane Colorado, Nancy’s lifetime volunteer hours accumulate to over $100,000 in funds we’re able to keep in animal care, maintaining our commitment to $0.82 of every dollar donated going directly to the lifesaving care for every animal that walks through our doors.
