He can be somewhat shy with new people but when he gets to know someone tends to be their biggest fan. Joey was sent off to CSU for the spring of 2026 as part of their ASPCA Right Horse Program and made great progress with the students up there! One of the things they noted was that Joey seemed to show a lot of interest in elevated obstacles and jumps, showing great promise as a future jumper! Here’s what the students at CSU had to say about Joey: This good-looking gentleman is Joey, offered by Harmony Equine in partnership with Colorado State University and the ASPCA. This boy is looking for his forever home, where he can continue his training with a confident partner. Joey can walk, trot in-hand, pick up all four feet, stands well for grooming, and being tacked. Can do hindquarter and forequarter pivots, with a start to understanding side passing. He can lunge both ways, walk, trot, and canter. Has worn a saddle and been ridden at the walk. He has also had a lot of work with desensitization but would benefit from a more experienced hand to guide him into further training and keep him focused on the task at hand. One of Joey’s biggest needs for improvement is being caught; he tends to anticipate the catching when placed in a larger area but does well if moved to a smaller catch pen. He enjoys TLC, cookies, and grooming, which has helped him grow his bond with our students. He is, overall, a great project and could go in many different directions.
