Meet
DAria McKay, RVT, CVPM, brings nearly two decades of experience in veterinary medicine, with extensive expertise in clinical operations, practice management, and organizational leadership. Her career began in research, working in collaboration with the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University. After earning her Masters of Science in Biology from Missouri State and shifting her academic focus to behavioral research, Daria discovered a passion for veterinary medicine and pursued her credentials as a registered veterinary technician (RVT).
Before joining Humane Colorado, Daria served as hospital manager for a hybrid emergency and general practice, where she developed a strong foundation in team leadership, client service, and high-quality patient care. She then spent 4 years as Director of Community Veterinary Services at Humane Colorado, leading initiatives that expanded access to veterinary care and strengthened support for pets and the people who love them. Her work has been instrumental in advancing community-centered programs, increasing organizational impact, and helping remove barriers to care for underserved families and animals.
As Humane Colorado’s Vice President of Veterinary Services, Daris is focused on driving innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth across the organization’s veterinary programs. She is passionate about strengthening the human-animal bond and ensuring compassionate, accessible care remains the center of Humane Colorado’s mission.
Outside of work, Daria enjoys spending time in the mountains, traveling anywhere there is a beach, the occasional Netflix binge, and staying active with her two dogs, two teenage children, and husband.
