Humane Colorado’s Veterinary Hospital at CSU Spur offers donor-subsidized services for sick and injured pets whose owners need help with the cost of necessary medical care.

Our Mission

To increase access to veterinary care in the community. We do this by offering high-quality urgent care and surgical services at affordable rates for pet owners who cannot otherwise afford care. This is made possible by our generous community of donors.

Please Note:
The Veterinary Hospital at CSU Spur is not located at the Leslie A. Malone Center on Quebec Street.

Coming from the south: From 46th Ave, turn left (north) onto National Western Dr. Continue between the Terra and Hydro buildings. At the stop sign turn left onto Bettie Cram Dr. We are housed in the Vida Building, which will be on your right. The entrance are on the west side of the building. Look for the doors with Green and Purple pawprints!

Coming from the north:From 58th Avenue heading west, go past Washington St. and turn right onto Franklin St. which turns into National Western Dr. at the street light at Race Ct.; continue going straight. Continue another ¼ mile to the end of the road. We are on the northwest corner of National Western Dr. and Bettie Cram Dr.

Surgeries and services

We offer urgent care services for owned cats and dogs by appointment, including non-elective surgery and dentistry. We can perform many emergency surgeries but are not equipped to manage critical cases or overnight hospitalization. Same-day appointments are available. Please call in advance to schedule, 303.722.5800.

Routinely performed surgeries and services include:

  • Abdominal exploratory – procedure to remove intestinal blockage from ingested objects/materials
  • Cystotomy – procedure to remove stones from bladder
  • Mass removals
  • Pyometra – procedure to remove infected uterus
  • Perineal urethrostomy – procedure for blocked male cats with the inability to urinate
  • Enucleation – procedure to remove eye(s) due to trauma or disease
  • Femoral head osteotomy – procedure to remove hip joint due to trauma or disease
  • Extracapsular ligament repair – repair option for certain patients with a torn CCL
  • Amputations
  • Laceration repair and wound management
  • Parvovirus treatment
  • Dentistry, including surgical extractions and prophylactic cleaning – options for patients with mild to severe dental disease
  • Heartworm treatment
  • Online pharmacy

Wellness services and preventative care are currently offered through our Spay/Neuter Clinic and Vaccine Clinic.

Financial Policy

Payment is expected on the day services are provided. We accept all major credit cards, cash, and offer flexible payment options including CareCredit and Scratch Pay.

Referring Veterinarians

If you have a client that cannot afford the necessary surgical procedure for an urgent condition, please call us in advance so that we can direct your client to the best time to come in. Our doctors will examine the pet then recommend a treatment plan, which may or may not include surgery. We appreciate receiving all medical records prior to their visit.

Please note: We do not staff specialists and have a limited scope of care. We do not provide internal or external fracture repair, ligament repair or medical management of chronic disease processes, such as diabetes. We also do not hospitalize critical care patients and do not have overnight staff.
