Ambassapets

The Humane Education team has a wonderful ambassapet program, which allows the team to bring out one ambassapet to a school or offsite visit. These ambassapets are staff or volunteer owned pets, and are all rescues. Bringing a pet, will depend on the lesson chosen (for example-no ambassapet comes out for Click and Learn class). We have a variety of ambassapets for visits at our shelters, but the pet chosen depends on the staff or volunteers availability, as well as the age group of the audience. See our current ambassapets below, and you might just meet one at our next visit!

Jedi

Jedi is a 5-year-old sphynx who enjoys socializing and keeping up with the latest fashion trends. Jedi was adopted as a kitten from Humane Colorado after he and his siblings were born in a foster home. He is quite the character and always keeps his family on their toes! When Jedi is not at work with his human, he’s home napping in the sun or terrorizing his cat brothers and pug siblings. He is quite an acrobat and is known to jump more than five feet in the air to catch his favorite feather toy!

Kiwi

Kiwi is 5 years old and a shelter alumnus. She was adopted as a puppy after coming to Humane Colorado on a transfer from Oklahoma. She was tiny then, but her ears were already full size!
Kiwi lives with her parents, two cats and a sidekick named Cricket who is her best friend ever! Kiwi loves peanut butter, napping, rolling in cool wet grass and giving big sloppy kisses. She’s not too fond of fireworks or thunder and would prefer never to have her nails clipped again. Kiwi’s best day starts with a relaxing morning on the deck while her parents drink their coffee, followed by a cool hike (but not too far!) an afternoon nap, early dinner and watching movies together in front of the fireplace.

Scout

Scout, a 4-year-old Akbash, came to Humane Colorado in May 2020 after being transferred from southern Colorado, where he was found as a stray. His human fell in love with him while taking him out for a walk and ended up taking him home the same day. When he’s not at work, zooming around the backyard, terrorizing the cat or impressing the neighborhood, napping is one of Scout’s favorite activities. His family spoils this 120+ pound, 3ft+-tall gentle giant by letting him take up the whole couch, floor, bed . . . you name it!

Doja

Doja, a 3-year-old calico domestic short hair, finds pleasure in snuggling on laps, playing with (toy) mice, and accompanying her owners on walks. Adopted from Humane Colorado within three weeks of her owner working there, Doja has developed a habit of resting on her owner’s chest and aligning her sleep routine with that of her owners. She is prepared to go to great measures to submerge herself in dairy products like milk, cheese, and yogurt, thoroughly covering herself with the food she cherishes the most. She is fond of interacting with all members of the household, including three young children, two adults, and two dogs, and she particularly enjoys grooming the heads of all family members, human and canine alike.

Bernie

Bernard Kerfluffle, affectionately known as Bernie, is an 8-year-old mixed breed dog with a kind demeanor and a fluffy coat. Surrendered to the shelter due to his size, Bernie quickly won over his new mom at first sight. He’s an intelligent pup, skilled in various tricks, and enjoys sitting in chairs just like his humans. His favorite sleeping position is on his back, and he adores a good back scratch.

Wally

Wally is a 6-year-old Goldendoodle who came from a rescue in Connecticut. When he’s not working, he loves hiking, swimming, and playing in the snow. At home, he lives with his Boxer sister and a tortoise brother. Wally isn’t fond of motorcycles, tail brushing, or bananas, but he adores meeting new people and could happily enjoy belly rubs all day long!
